An online college class is a teaching session where students are taught online. It has specific times when it is supposed to start and to end and is offered through chat and forums. It involves sending of course material by the lecturer through the forum. The students are expected to respond with questions and the facilitator responds with the explanations. Online classes are usually for guiding the students into understanding the hard areas of their course. The online college classes may include a voice over internet protocol call or virtual conferencing where the teacher talks through the internet while the students listen. This is customized and it uses the latest internet call conferencing.
An online class mainly has an average of 50 students. The teacher may prepare podcasts of the class some minutes before the class begins and them the class watches the podcasts and asks questions based on the lesson. Some of the most developed online colleges give these classes. This is because they involve a lot of internet usage and connection and streaming the lessons to the students takes time and state of art technology. It is like having a traditional class since the teacher is heard and seen on the computer as they are speaking in the campus. The video camera takes videos of the lecturers as they explain something in class and as they write on the board.
Online colleges are mainly offered to the people who are in areas that are out of reach. Since they involve an online communication between the lecturer and the student, they enable the student to understand faster and they save time for the student. The examinations are done through the same way where the teacher asks orally and the student answers. This is advantageous to both the teacher and the student since there is no bulk paper work involved, for example, where the course material is sent online and a student accumulates a number of lessons that they have not read.
Online college classes are instantaneous. The colleges that offer crash programs usually prefer them. This is because the students are expected to have studies certain voluminous units within a short time. Sending the course information by email might take longer before the students read. However, since the online college classes involve listening and viewing as the facilitator teaches, the students understand easily. The online classes are more expensive than a normal routine where the lecturer sends information by email. This is because the classes are more involving to the lecturer and they require better equipment to facilitate the lessons. The online classes are the best for busy people who want to take the online courses with a short period.
